Solutions and Growth Through Collaboration

District 4 (Imperial, Inyo, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego) is home to some of the largest and most active bar associations in the State of California. Through collaboration, our bar associations can mutually benefit from each other’s ideas, suggestions and paradigms that lead us to work smarter to improve access to justice, increase the delivery of quality legal services and assist our courts through the ongoing budget crisis. Instead of reinventing the wheel, a district-wide collaborative effort among our bar associations can shorten that road we need to travel to achieve success and implement solutions in our respective counties and collectively within our district.

Over the 24 years of my practice, I have had the opportunity to handle cases in the counties of Imperial, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego. I am significantly involved at the local bar association level, including specialty bar associations and multi-cultural bar associations. I currently serve as a Director on the Orange County Bar Association Board (“OCBA”) as well as a longtime member of the OCBA’s Community Outreach Committee. During my tenure as president of the Orange County Women Lawyers Association (“OCWLA”) and the president of the Orange County Asian American Bar Association (“OCAABA”) I built relationships with other affiliate bar associations within Orange County, Los Angeles County, San Diego County and the Inland Empire. Hence, I truly believe that a partnership of bar associations is a benefit for all. As an Orange County bar leader, I participated in the presiding judge’s monthly breakfast meetings which provided me with insight into the state court budget crisis. I have participated in the State Bar’s monthly bar association presidents’ telephonic meetings, the stakeholders’ meeting, the Bar Leaders’ Conference at the State Bar Annual Conference and served as a member of the former State Bar Ethnic Minority Relationship Committee.

I am a partner in the Orange County office of Gordon & Rees LLP with a litigation practice focusing primarily on products liability, complex/mass tort litigation, premises liability and business/employment related matters.

As your trustee, I plan to reach out to the bar associations within our district to establish formal lines of communications to encourage the collaboration of ideas and paradigms to create solutions. I will endeavor to keep the respective bar associations well-informed, solicit feedback and communicate concerns to the Board of Trustees. I am a Southern California native who has been practicing in Southern California since 1989. I appreciate your vote.
