SAN FRANCISCO (Apr. 18, 2012) – Five lawyers are running for two seats
on the State Bar Board of Trustees in the first election since recent
governance and district changes took effect and the third since voters have
been allowed to cast ballots either electronically or with mail-in ballots.
Ballots will
be mailed April 30, and State Bar members have until July 2 to cast their
votes.
Two of the
six State Bar districts have open seats this year.
The
candidates are:
District
4 (Imperial, Inyo, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego
counties): Nikki Presley
Miliband of Newport Beach, Michael A.
Scafiddi of San Bernardino and Christopher W.
Todd of San Diego.
District
5 (Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Stanislaus, Tulare and
Tuolumne counties): R. Konrad Moore of Bakersfield
and David A. Torres of Bakersfield.
For the third year, the State Bar is conducting a
“hybrid” election in which voters can choose whether to vote electronically or
with a traditional mail-in ballot. Winners will take their seats in October and
serve three-year terms.
