Microfinance is a global anti-poverty
initiative that provides small loans to impoverished,
entrepreneurial individuals, who do not have the collateral
required by traditional lenders, allowing them to create and build
their own businesses. These small loans result in financial
independence and economic empowerment for the individual borrowers
and in economic stimulation for their communities. You are invited
to learn about:
- the nuts and bolts of microfinance;
- how and why lawyers get involved; and
- where microfinance is headed.
