In 2008, the State Bar Annual Meeting returns to exquisite Monterey, offering opportunities for fun for the whole family. Program 121 Revised Tax Return Preparer Penalties

Program 148 Estate and Gift Tax Update

Program 165 Giving Up Is Hard to Do: Does It Make Cents to Abandon a Partnership Interest That Is Worthless?

Program 173 Abuse of EO’s in Money-Laundering and International Grant Making

Nearly 40% of international money laundering involves United States charitable/EO entities. Identifies the key issues, including the use of EO’s in developing nations, and the role of U.S. attorneys in policing activities of the nation’s charities and foreign grantees. Members of the State Bar can now recieve a 15% discount on any ABA book (or books) and all Section members receive a 35% discount on any ABA book (or books). This is a great benefit for all Section members as the savings on even a single purchase could be equal to or even exceed the cost of an annual Section membership. For instance, the savings on a purchase of $200 would be equivalent to $70. Here’s how the ABA discount program works:
