Committees: Finance

Jim Cummings is a public member of the State Bar of California Board of Trustees, appointed by Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas in September 2026.

Mr. Cummings is a senior human resources executive with over 25 years of leadership experience with large, complex organizations, working with boards, executive leadership, and the workforce at large. Most recently, as the chief human resources officer of WarnerMedia (formerly Time Warner), he led 30,000+ employees in over 50 countries through a series of transformational organization changes, during a time of generational industry disruption. He co-led all transformation efforts—including strategic shifts, major restructurings, and operational changes—crucial to WarnerMedia’s pivot from a holding company into one true operating company and the successful launch of its signature streaming service.

Before WarnerMedia, Mr. Cummings was a partner at Towers Perrin, a human resources consulting firm. He advised hundreds of companies and their boards of directors across multiple industries as well as nonprofit organizations. He primarily served as the lead partner for engagements on a range of compensation, incentive design, organizational structure, and governance issues, as well as executive and independent director recruitment.

Mr. Cummings graduated from Stanford University and also attended Oxford University. He currently lives in Carmel, California, with his husband and two dogs, Avi and Pamela Paul.
