State Bar attorneys who are certified legal specialists must file a separate report on their legal specialist education at the same time they file their other Minimum Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) report.
The deadline is generally the same as for other attorney groups. Certified legal specialists should file a different form, called a compliance card, reporting completion of the 36 hours of legal specialist education by the same deadline.
Legal Specialization Rule 3.114(A)(2) states that certified specialists must report their legal specialist education every three years, but still recertify every five years.
With the reporting cycles for MCLE education compliance and legal specialist education compliance synchronized, reporting education will be more convenient for certified specialists.
