The Committee of State Bar Accredited and Registered Schools (CSBARS) advises the State Bar of California’s Committee of Bar Examiners (CBE) on matters relating to the promulgation of new rules, guidelines, and amendments to the rules and guidelines for California-accredited Law Schools, and for Unaccredited Law Schools, as well as other issues related to legal education.

Purpose

Composition

  • The CSBARS is comprised of seven members: Three deans from accredited schools, two deans from registered unaccredited schools, and two members selected by the chair and vice-chair of CBE. One of the CBE appointees may be a consultant with expertise in accreditation issues.
  • The State Bar sets the meeting schedule as needed in consultation with the members.
