Find a Lawyer Referral Service
Connect with certified legal services to help you find a lawyer who best fits your situation.
Our mission is to protect the public and includes the primary functions of licensing, regulation and discipline of attorneys; the advancement of the ethical and competent practice of law; and support of efforts for greater access to, and inclusion in, the legal system.
California is the only state with an independent professional court dedicated to ruling on attorney discipline cases. The State Bar Court hears charges filed by the State Bar’s Office of Chief Trial Counsel against attorneys whose actions allegedly involve misconduct. The State Bar Court cannot give legal advice or provide attorney referrals.
Applications are open for two State Bar–appointed seats on the California Indian Legal Services (CILS) Board of Trustees. These positions are three-year terms starting on November 23, 2026. Applicants must be licensed to practice law in California and be in good standing with the State Bar. Knowledge and familiarity with federal Indian law and/or issues affecting Native American communities are strongly preferred. To apply, select the committee from the left-hand menu and click the “Apply for membership” button on the top right. In the application, the committee will be listed in the “External Entity” drop-down menu.
Application deadline: August 3, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
