Protecting the Public

Advancing justice is not all that the State Bar of California does. One of its guiding principles is its commitment to ensuring that the public is protected.

A cornerstone of this goal is a responsibility to educate the public, both as consumers of legal services and as prospective attorneys.

We seek public involvement in reporting unethical attorneys. We reach out to consumers about our library of legal guides. We seek public input on our official policies, and we are responsive to requests for transparency in public records.

The State Bar’s 2022–2027 Strategic Plan focuses all five goals on how they connect with and support our public protection mission.
