The New Attorney Training Program courses are accessed through My State Bar Profile.
After signing in to My State Bar Profile, click the “E-Learning Portal” button on the page. Then select “Catalog” at the top of the dashboard, search for “New Attorney Training,” add the course to your cart, and complete the checkout process.
Effective May 26, 2025, a $55 fee will apply to access all New Attorney Training courses. Previously completed courses will remain intact.

Program details
The online courses can be completed in any order and at your own pace. You may leave and return at any time, and progress will be saved. The courses include:

Introduction to Law Practice Management Skills
Attorney Communication Duties
Attorney-Client Relationships
The Attorney as a Fiduciary of Funds and Property of Clients and Others
The Duty of Confidentiality and Conflicts of Interest
Attorney Well-Being: The Bedrock of Competence
Elimination of Bias
Attorney as an Officer of the Court—Civility and Pro Bono Legal Services
After completing each course, save or print the MCLE certificate and resource materials, as they will be available only for 30 days afterward. The State Bar will not be able to provide the certificate and course resources later. You should maintain a copy of the certificate for at least one year after your MCLE compliance deadline. (Rule 2.73 of Title 2, Division 4, Chapter 2 of the Rules of the State Bar.)
MCLE credit
The State Bar New Attorney Training is a separate requirement and is not MCLE. However, new licensees may apply the State Bar New Attorney Training hours toward their MCLE requirements if the hours are completed within the licensee’s MCLE compliance period. (Rule 2.142 of Title 2, Division 6, Chapter 1 of the Rules of the State Bar.) Each course description specifies the amount and type of MCLE credit awarded.
Exemptions and time exemptions
There are no exemptions from the New Attorney Training requirement. (Rule 2.143.) All attorneys must complete the courses as outlined, including those who assume inactive State Bar status. Time extensions are granted only in rare cases of documented personal hardship. (Rule 2.144.)
