State Bar DEI Leadership Seal Progress

The State Bar is committed to earning a gold DEI Leadership Seal.

While we were unable to achieve this high standard along with the inaugural group of seal recipients, we are making progress toward implementing the nine action items this seal level requires.

Here is a quarterly update on our progress.

Compare California attorney hire demographics to California attorney population
Create and share publicly a DEI statement
Conduct staff stay and exit interviews
Survey staff to gather feedback on DEI efforts
Require annual training of employees on implicit bias
Incorporate DEI work into performance, advancement, and compensation decisions

The State Bar has committed to obtaining an external review of its implementation report to ensure objectivity as it seeks to earn the DEI Leadership Seal.
