Please note that the State Bar Board of Trustees has adopted new Admissions-related fees for 2024, after seven or more years without any increases. The changes include fees for the bar exam, beginning with the February 2024 bar exam.
The fee for an application for the bar for nonattorneys has increased from $677 to $850.
For attorneys, the fee has increased from $983 to $1,500. These fee amounts do not include the laptop fee or any late fees, the amounts of which remain unchanged.
January 2024 update
At its January meeting, the Board of Trustees approved the following locations for the July 2024 bar exam:
Following public input at the January Board meeting, applicants from the Sacramento and San Diego metropolitan areas were offered the option to request to withdraw from the February 2024 bar exam and apply their paid fees as a credit to the July 2024 bar exam. The cut-off date to make this request was February 2, 2024. Applicants who requested this credit and who are subsequently unable or unwilling to sit for the July 2024 bar exam will forfeit their February 2024 bar exam fees.
