Updating your address
- Your official address of record is subject to public disclosure and will be posted on the State Bar website.
- If you have privacy concerns, you may use a P.O. Box as your address of record.
- Changes to an individual attorney’s contact information will not automatically update contact information for registered law corporations and limited liability partnerships with which they are associated, and vice versa.
Please go to My State Bar Profile to update your address of record.
California Rule of Court 9.9 makes it a requirement to use My State Bar Profile as the means to report changes to your contact information, as well as to provide and maintain a private email address for State Bar communications.
If you are a first-time user, contact the State Bar at 888-800-3400 for your initial Access Code. Returning users should simply log in to My State Bar Profile with their password and follow the prompts within the section called “Attorney Record.” If you forget your password, click on “Forget your password?” and follow the prompts so that it can be reset. If you have any difficulty, please contact Attorney Regulation.
Please be reminded that California Business & Professions Code Section 6002.1 requires that you maintain a current address with the State Bar of California and notify us of a new address within 30 days of any change. Be aware that as your official address of record it will be subject to public disclosure and will be posted on the State Bar’s website.
Corporations
Please note that updating contact information on an individual attorney’s My State Bar Profile will not update the contact information on record for a registered law corporation and/or limited liability partnership. If the contact information on record for a law corporation and/or limited liability partnership requires updating, the agency should submit a Special Report to the Agency Billing application on record. For additional guidance on updating contact information via a Special Report, refer to the appropriate Agency Billing Renewal Guide(s) located in the Help Center. If the agency is no longer able to access the application on record for a law corporation and/or limited liability partnership, please have a shareholder, officer of the law corporation, or an authorized partner in a limited liability partnership submit a written request via the Licensee Records and Compliance Inquiry form for State Bar staff support on regaining access to Agency Billing and/or the application on record.
Questions? Please fill out the Licensee Records and Compliance Inquiry form.
