Improve your client trust accounting skills and learn about your reporting requirements under the State Bar’s Client Trust Account Protection Program (CTAPP).

Practical Trust Account Reconciliation course

In this hands-on course, you will learn about the essential trust accounting records that are mandatory for each client trust account. The course will also show you how to perform the necessary monthly three-way reconciliation process.

  • Attorneys: This program qualifies for 1 hour of general and 1 hour of ethics Minimum Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) credit. Access by logging in to My State Bar Profile, go to the State Bar E-learning Portal section, and find “Access my e-learning site.” Go to “Catalog” from the Dashboard, search for the “Practical Trust Account Reconciliation” course, click “Add to cart,” and complete the checkout process. The course will appear in the “Not Started” section of the Dashboard.

The State Bar offers an unlocked version of this course for bookkeepers and law firm administrators that is not eligible for MCLE credit.

After answering each question, you will receive feedback containing references to resources that can help you improve your performance with respect to the topic covered by the question. The answers you provide are for your use and viewing only. Individual user data will not be shared.
    • To receive MCLE credit, download the certificate upon completing the self-assessment. You will not be able to do so after closing out of the self-assessment.
    • Each self-assessment is eligible for up to 1 hour of MCLE self-study credit.
  • CTA School: 3 hours of MCLE
  • Fundamentals of Client Trust Accounting: This program qualifies for 1 hour of participatory, ethics MCLE credit. Access by logging in to My State Bar Profile, go to the State Bar E-learning Portal section, and find “Access my e-learning site.” Go to “Not Started” from the Dashboard, and you will be able to access the “Fundamentals of Client Trust Accounting” course.
