Is it possible for me to access my most recently submitted State Bar registration, California Bar Examination application and/or Moral Character Determination application?
Yes.
Applications can be reviewed in the prior Admissions system by accessing the following link: https://www.nationalapplicationcenter.com/ and by using the old CalBarXAP.com credentials log-in for up to 2 years from 2/28/2019. Applications may be printed for informational purposes only and no edits can be made.
I have tried to access the State Bar Admissions website to register and fill out a moral character determination application but have been unable to do so. Why?
Starting February 14, 2019 through February 24, 2019, the State Bar’s registration and application system will be unavailable due to the implementation of the new AIMS. Starting Friday, March 1, 2019, you will be able to access the new system and register and submit applications.
If I already had an account set up in the prior system, will I need to create a new account in the AIMS?
No.
Your prior account information will be migrated into the new AIMS. You will receive an e-mail on March 1, 2019 with instructions on how to log-in to the AIMS along with a direct link to reset your password (if you didn’t receive the e-mail, check your SPAM folder).
Should I use a specific browser to access the AIMS?
For maximum performance, you should use Google Chrome to access the AIMS.
As of April 5, 2019, Salesforce no longer supports Internet Explorer 9, 10, and 11. We recommend you move to a supported browser, such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge.
For all browsers, enable JavaScript, cookies, and TLS 1.2. If TLS 1.2 isn’t available, enable TLS 1.1. Browsers that don’t support TLS 1.1 or TLS 1.2 won’t be able to access Salesforce after we deactivate TLS 1.0. Deactivation has already occurred in sandbox orgs and concludes with production orgs on July 22, 2017.
Some features use iframes to work in Lightning Experience, so you must have the appropriate browser security settings for iframes to load correctly. Follow your browser’s instructions to enable working with iframes and third-party cookies. For example: In Internet Explorer, set the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME security setting to Enable or Prompt. In Safari, we recommend changing your privacy settings for cookies to Allow from websites I visit. In Chrome, make sure that Block third-party cookies and site data isn’t selected in the Content settings.
The minimum screen resolution required to support all Salesforce features is 1024 x 768. Lower screen resolutions don’t always properly display Salesforce features such as Report Builder and Page Layout Editor.
For Mac OS users on Apple Safari or Chrome, make sure the system setting Show scroll bars is set to Always.
Some third-party browser plug-ins and extensions can interfere with the functionality of Chatter. If you experience malfunctions or inconsistent behavior with Chatter, disable the browser's plug-ins and extensions and try again.
What is the Admissions Information Management System (AIMS)?
The AIMS is the name of the new Admissions computer system that will significantly improve the applicant experience in registering with the State Bar and submitting applications for things such as the California Bar Examination, First-Year Law Students’ Examination, and Moral Character Determination. The AIMS is scheduled to “go-live” and be available for use on Friday, March 1, 2019.
As of March 17, the State Bar of California announced operational changes in keeping with the evolving preventative public health guidelines for the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. The Los Angeles and San Francisco offices are closed to the public, and with limited exceptions, staff are being required to telecommute.
At its March 12 meeting, the State Bar Board of Trustees engaged in a robust discussion on the final report of the Task Force on Access Through Innovation of Legal Services (ATILS). The Board approved several of the Task Force’s recommendations, including a recommendation to circulate for public comment changes to two Rules of Professional Conduct. The Board deferred until May action on proposals related to the establishment of a working group to explore a regulatory sandbox. The Board also approved other measures furthering the State Bar’s access goal.
