State Bar of California Releases Draft of 2017 Annual Discipline Report

Today the State Bar released a  draft of its 2017 Annual Discipline Report for review by the Board of Trustees’ Regulation and Discipline Committee on April 16. The final Report, which provides an overview of the performance of the attorney discipline system, will be submitted to the Legislature on April 30.

State Bar issues attorney self-reporting guidelines

The State Bar of California has issued guidelines for attorneys in anticipation of a new Rule of Court that would require re-fingerprinting of all active licensees. This will allow the agency to obtain criminal record information in compliance with state law.

State Bar of California Annual Ethics Symposium on April 6

The State Bar of California will hold its annual Ethics Symposium on April 6. The day-long event provides training on legal ethics and guidelines for practicing attorneys. The training topics will cover a range of topics including addressing sexual harassment and bias, attorney-client privilege, and other professional and ethical obligations of the 190,000 active attorneys licensed in California.
